Adios, Ghost

The Adios, Ghost is a smoked sage and peach margarita featuring Partida Reposado Tequila, Cointreau orange liqueur, fresh lime juice, sage simple syrup, muddled peach in a sage smoked glass. It was a submission to the Devour Indy Summerfest 2020 Cocktail contest.

The theme of the contest for Summer 2020 was the theme for 2020’s bar as a whole: the carry out cocktail. The bars and restaurants in Indiana had just reopened for dine in service.

I wanted to make a drink that was cocktail bar quality but able to be assembled at home. I constructed a self contained little drink that used fresh fruit and fresh herbs and simplified some bar techniques for home use.

The carry out kit I put together contained all the spirits necessary, as well as the syrup, in a miniature mason jar. A little envelope contained both a fresh sage leaf and a dried sage leaf. I included a fresh peach and fresh lime, as well as a matchbook.

I did assume that everyone has a cocktail tin, a knife and a muddler at home.

The dried sage and matches are the quickest way to smoke a glass, then simply cut and muddle your peach in a shaker tin, juice your lime and add your liquor mixture. Shake with ice and strain over fresh ice into your freshly smoked glass. A quality craft cocktail on the go!
