Tale of two opposites

“The End of the Line”

a frozen cosmo

Tonight featured two beverages, one for me and one decidedly not. I found the “End of the Line” ““Negroni”” on instagram and it featured one of my friend’s three favorite ingredients: green chartreuse, campari and scotch. That’s an ingredient I love, one I’m learning to like and one I think will just never be for me. But, definitely for him. So I made him one. I was right it’s definitely never going to be my favorite. Where did the peppermint come from? I mean it came from the Chartreuse obviously but why so spicy???

End of the Line Negroni

1 oz Green Chartruese

1 oz Campari

1 oz scotch (I used Glenlivet 12)

the three amigos

I had an idea for a frozen cosmo because I came in possession of too much cranberry sauce and had to freeze it.

I picked Deep Eddy because they make sweet, but true flavored vodka, stuck with the traditional lemon. Cointreau because always Cointreau and lime juice. Added some water for dilution and some ice cubes because this cranberry sauce did not freeze well. Surprisingly crushable result. The exact polar opposite of the first drink. Sweet, frozen, tart, easy-going. Another one I’ll never do again, but for very different reasons.

Frozen Cosmo

2 oz lemon vodka (I used Deep Eddy)

.75 oz Cointreau

.75 oz lime juice

half a tray of cranberry cubes

handful of ice
